Indian Energy is a power producer focused on wind in India.
The Group acquires operating projects or projects which are at late stage development - where the land is in place, permitted, and construction ready. The business model provides direct exposure to the growing India power market but without the inherent risks associated with the early stage development of infrastructure projects in India.
All of the Group’s projects are with turbine manufacturers with proven technology. IEL enjoys a relatively short cycle between deployment of capital and cash flow, typically of between 9 to 12 months. In order to ensure that the project is completed on schedule, IEL undertakes the project management during the post-development and construction phases. Following commissioning, the project operations and maintenance are outsourced to the turbine manufacturer and Indian Energy maintains an engineer “on-site”.
In terms of the sale of power, IEL enters in to long term power purchase agreements (“PPAs”) with strong counterparties.
Indian Energy has a management team with a demonstrable track record in the implementation of a broad range of power projects in India, a deep knowledge of the Indian regulatory environment, together with a proven track record in equity and project finance.
